Genealogical Information

The Register of Deeds office has an index of all instruments recorded against every piece of property in Wabaunsee County.  If you do not know the exact legal description, there are alphabetical index books to deeds that may be searched by names. However, in Kansas, if a person inherits an interest in real estate, there will not necessarily be a deed recorded in this office.  Inherited interests may be found in probate cases, which are filed in the office of the Wabaunsee County Clerk of the District Court.

Our office will perform limited genealogical searches for individuals on a “as time permits” basis.  We request that a search fee of $5 plus a SASE accompany the request.   Copy charges are $ .50  per page.

In addition to the records in the Wabaunsee County Courthouse, our county has other genealogical resource sites listed below.
